To learn about new trends and hear from experts in the datacenter industry, NetActuate President Mark Price travelled to San Antonio, Texas to attend Data Center World Global 2018.
Price joined more than 1,500 datacenter, facilities and IT infrastructure professionals at this conference, which was organized by AFCOM, an industry association that has been serving the data center industry for over 35 years.
“At NetActuate, it is important for us to always be learning and innovating,” said Price. “Attending Data Center World provided us a valuable opportunity to connect with and learn from leaders and experts in the datacenter industry. We are already using what we learned to improve our services, and ensure we are making infrastructure investments that will best serve the future needs of our clients.”
“The Making of Data Center Alley,” one of the most popular presentations, featured both government and hyperscale users discussing the dramatic increase in datacenters located (or planning to be built) in Ashburn, Virginia, near Washington DC. Fueled by the availability of land, fiber connectivity, power, and water, as well as airport proximity and tax incentives, the panelists projected continued growth over the next few years.
Inside a world-class Equinix facility in Ashburn, NetActuate offers clients colocation and connectivity services. From Ashburn, we provide cloud interconnect services to all major public cloud providers, as well as connectivity to hundreds of global providers.
Datacenter efficiency, IOT (Internet of Things), edge computing and DevOps were also popular topics at the conference.
The rapid growth of new devices, appliances and other items with connectivity capabilities is driving the proliferation of IOT. As a result, service providers are seeing a need to push their IT compute closer to these devices to ensure uptime and availability.
To better serve clients with high-demand edge computing needs, NetActuate’s growth strategy includes PoP expansions to new areas, such as Atlanta and Johannesburg, as well as increasing capabilities at our existing 29 locations. We are also recruiting and hiring top talent as we grow our DevOps teams to provide expert infrastructure support.
A final highlight of the Data Center World conference was a talk by George Clement, a Senior Application Engineer at Intel. He presented Intel’s simple, yet logical decision tree to help businesses evaluate their cloud strategy. His excellent accompanying white paper includes decision criteria for a variety of business applications.
