Frequently Asked Questions

General Company Information

What is NetActuate?

NetActuate is a global infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider offering edge cloud, bare metal, virtual machines, and Anycast-enabled network services across 40+ data centers worldwide.

How do you compare to other cloud providers?

We provide deeply integrated edge infrastructure and network services—including global BGP Anycast—designed for performance, availability, and low latency. We don’t consider ourselves a cloud service provider (VULTR, GCORE, Digital Ocean, Linode) or a Hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle) but a managed provider of bespoke infrastructure for companies looking to use and build similar dedicated infrastructure for their global platforms. It’s for this reason we are a good fit for global SaaS companies and demanding platforms with custom requirements.

Where are your data center locations?

NetActuate operates a geographically diverse network with over 40 datacenters across North America, South America, Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Asia & Oceania.

Who uses NetActuate’s services?

We serve SaaS platforms, Content Delivery Networks, Managed DNS Providers, VPN providers, gaming companies, and enterprises that require resilient, low-latency global infrastructure.

How is NetActuate structured legally and operationally?

NetActuate is a privately held company headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, with distributed operations globally.

Do you support startups or scaleups?

Yes, we offer customized onboarding, volume discounts, and direct support for high-growth SaaS and infrastructure companies.

Is your infrastructure built on open standards?

Yes. We leverage open-source technologies (KVM, Open vSwitch, etc.) to maintain interoperability, flexibility, and transparency.

Snapshots are available for virtual machines, with offsite backup options for both VM and bare metal storage.

What automation options are available?

We offer a REST API, Ansible modules, Terraform provider (beta), and integration hooks for CI/CD.

How do you handle DNS and load balancing?

Global DNS (with geo/routing logic) and Anycast-enabled load balancing are integrated into our core service offering.

Global Anycast & Network Services

What is Anycast and why does it matter?

Anycast routes IP traffic to the nearest node in a distributed network using BGP. It ensures high availability, load balancing, and optimal latency.

How does NetActuate implement Anycast?

We assign the same IP address block to multiple global locations, each announcing routes via BGP. Traffic flows to the closest healthy endpoint. You can do BGP with us and announce your own space, we can do it for you, or any combination of approaches.

Can I use my own ASN with Anycast?

Yes. We support customer ASN announcements and multi-homing with route control features.

What DDoS protection do you offer?

We offer edge-based volumetric DDoS mitigation with scrubbing, filtering, and RTBH, alongside upstream provider partnerships.

What routing policies are supported?

We support community-based routing, prepend logic, and dynamic route injection via our automation system.

Is RPKI filtering enabled?

Yes. We actively support RPKI validation and filtering, and encourage customers to publish ROAs.

Can I announce my own prefixes through your network?

Yes. You can announce your IPs through our POPs under your ASN or ours, subject to LOA and routing validation.

Do you support GRE or IPsec tunnels?

Yes, we support GRE/IPsec for customers needing tunneling, hybrid connectivity, or secure cross-site mesh setups.

Do you support SD-WAN or multi-path solutions?

Yes. We offer custom integration with SD-WAN providers and hybrid path solutions for edge delivery.

How is your network optimized for performance?

We continuously measure latency, throughput, and packet loss across all inter-POP and provider paths and make dynamic routing adjustments.

Developer & DevOps

Is there a developer portal or control panel?

Yes. Our developer portal supports resource provisioning, network configuration, billing, and performance metrics.

Do you offer an API for programmatic access?

Yes. A full REST API with OpenAPI documentation is available for all major operations.

Can I use Ansible or Terraform with your platform?

Yes. We have native Ansible modules and a Terraform provider (currently in beta).

Do you provide monitoring or logging?

Yes. We integrate with Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, and provide API access to logs and metrics.

How do I secure my infrastructure?

We provide VPC isolation, firewalls, ACLs, API key restrictions, VPN endpoints, and audit logs for compliance.

What Linux distributions are available?

Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, AlmaLinux, Rocky, Arch, and customer-provided ISOs.

Getting Started with NetActuate

Can I create an account directly on your website?

No, NetActuate does not offer self-service signups. All accounts are provisioned after a qualification and onboarding process to ensure customer needs align with our infrastructure offerings and support model.

Why don’t you allow instant signups like other cloud providers?

We serve a wide range of customers—from SaaS providers to edge CDN operators—and believe in building trusted, long-term relationships. Our hands-on approach ensures proper planning, optimal resource allocation, and long-term reliability.

How do I get started if I’m interested in your services?

Reach out via our contact form or schedule a consultation. Our team will review your requirements, recommend the right mix of services, and create an account tailored to your use case.

Is there a screening or qualification process?

Yes. We review each inquiry to assess infrastructure needs, technical readiness, security requirements, and ongoing support expectations. This ensures a good fit for both parties.

Who typically qualifies for a NetActuate account?

We work with mid-market SaaS companies, cloud platforms, network operators, streaming providers, and enterprise customers who value resilient edge infrastructure and managed services.

What information should I include when reaching out?

Please include your company name, contact details, expected use case (e.g., SaaS hosting, VPN infrastructure, BGP/IP deployment), regions of interest, and any required bandwidth or compute specs.

How long does the onboarding process take?

Usually 1–3 business days depending on complexity. For multi-region builds or Anycast deployments, additional coordination may be required.

Can individuals or hobbyists use your platform?

Our platform is designed for businesses and service providers. We do not currently support individual developers or hobbyist usage.

Do you charge for onboarding or account setup?

No. Onboarding is complimentary, though custom infrastructure builds or premium support tiers may have associated costs.

What support is available during onboarding?

A technical account manager and engineering liaison will assist with deployment planning, IP allocations, API access, and integration guidance.
