San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 08, 2012
Sensinode and Host Virtual announce delivery of the world’s first cloud-based Machine-to-Machine (M2M) stack, using Sensinode’s industry leading M2M platform and Web applications to leverage secure and efficient CoAP and 6LoWPAN communications that can be deployed anywhere in the world in just minutes.
Sensinode has been a technology pioneer in M2M, actively developing and promoting open standards as a member of the IETF, ZigBee Alliance, ETSI, OMA and the IPSO Alliance. Sensinode’s technology enables the Internet of Things”, said Sandy Bhargavi, Sr. Vice President of Host Virtual, Inc. “We’re pleased to partner with them to deliver their software products on our worldwide IPv6 cloud platform.”
Sensinode provides end-to-end software products that extend IP and web services all the way to the end node, combining highly optimized embedded client software with a scalable management and web applications platform. Sensinode’s software brings web services to the most demanding enterprise applications in the Internet of Things.
“Our technology brings M2M into the Web age; making embedded devices part of Web-based services has never been easier.” said Zach Shelby, co-founder of Sensinode. “With Host Virtual we’ve made it even easier, with instant cloud deployment of M2M services on a world-class IPv6 infrastructure.”
To get started with an M2M roll-out, a customer simply goes to vr.org/sensinode, registers and begins deploying M2M appliances.
Using Sensinode deployed in the Host Virtual Cloud, customers can take advantage of the IETF Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), which enables web services for even the most constrained devices and networks while integrating with the web architecture and HTTP. CoAP is standardized by the IETF and optimized for applications such as Smart Energy, home and building automation, asset tracking and cellular M2M.
An Internet Protocol technology called 6LoWPAN makes the Internet of Things a reality together with CoAP. An IETF standard, 6LoWPAN optimizes IPv6 for use with low-power, low-bandwidth communication technologies such as IEEE 802.15.4. Typically, small sensor payloads of 15 bytes can mushroom to 500-600 bytes using HTTP and TCP. Using 6LoWPAN to compress the headers and CoAP at the application layer results in a streamlined 20 byte package; an improvement of 2 to 3 orders of magnitude.
“We’re looking forward to our continued partnership with Sensinode as they innovate in M2M,” said Sandy Bhargavi of Host Virtual.
The Host Virtual public cloud, available in the U.S, Europe and South Asia, allows customers to deploy servers in a minute with dual-stack, IPv4 and IPv6 capabilities. Over 300 pre-built operating system and appliance images are available.
Combined with advanced tools and services, such as BGP AnyCast, Load Balancing, and worldwide CDN support Host Virtual provides a seamless IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) base for its customers.
In addition to its public cloud options, Host Virtual compliments its services with managed cloud hosting, dedicated private/public clouds, white-label cloud solutions and cloud consulting.
