OS Images
NetActuate provides three categories of operating system images for VM deployments, all accessible under Platform → OS Images in the portal.
Base Images
Standard operating system images maintained and managed by NetActuate. The table displays each image's status, image ID, system, and version. Click any image to open the sidebar with additional details including last updated date, architecture, description, and script support (cloud-init and bash).
The image ID is useful when working with the API, Terraform, and Ansible.
NetActuate maintains a library of hundreds of images and keeps approximately 30–50 rolling, recently updated images available for deployment. If you need a specific image that is not listed, contact support to have it added or updated.
Private Images
Images provided by NetActuate and made available to specific customer accounts. Private images are not the same as customer-created custom images — they are managed by NetActuate for custom, support, or licensing reasons.
The Private Images tab displays the same fields as Base Images: status, image ID, system, and version.
My Images
Customer-created custom images. You can snapshot a configured VM and redeploy it to any NetActuate PoP. The default limit is 2 custom images per account — contact support to increase this limit.
The My Images table displays status, image ID, system version, and available actions for each image.
See the How-To Guide for step-by-step instructions on creating, updating, and managing custom images, or My Images for a detailed reference.
