Categories and Tags
Marketplace appliances are organized by category and carry protocol and use-case tags, so you can browse the catalog by purpose and filter to the appliances that fit your workflow.
Categories
Every listing belongs to one or more categories. The catalog uses these six:
| Category | Covers |
|---|---|
| Media & Streaming | Live and VOD streaming servers, transcoding, just-in-time packaging, WebRTC and real-time media, origins, and repackagers. This is the largest category in the catalog. |
| Networking & Security | Load balancers, reverse proxies, HTTP accelerators and caches, and edge security. |
| Storage | Object and media storage origins. |
| Observability | Metrics, dashboards, and monitoring stacks. |
| AI & ML | Transcription, media AI, and machine-learning workloads. |
| Consulting & Services | Design, engineering, and managed services delivered by partners. |
In the portal, filter the catalog by category from Platform → Marketplace. On the public marketplace, each category has its own page at https://www.netactuate.com/marketplace/category/<category-slug> (for example .../category/media-streaming).
Tags
Beyond categories, media appliances carry tags that describe what they do, so you can find an appliance by the protocol you need or the job you are doing.
- Protocol tags identify the streaming and transport protocols an appliance ingests or delivers. Values seen across the catalog include RTMP, RTSP, SRT, RIST, HLS, MPEG-DASH, MPEG-TS, WebRTC, WebTransport or QUIC, SIP, and H.323.
- Use-case tags identify the role an appliance plays, such as ingest, transcode, encode, origin, packaging, WebRTC, and load balancing.
An appliance's page and its portal listing show the tags that apply to it. Not every listing carries tags; open-source utility images may have none.
Listing Types
Listings are also typed by how you consume them:
| Type | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Image | A deployable appliance image you run on your own NetActuate VM. |
| Integration | A partner platform that integrates with NetActuate; the listing links you to the partner rather than deploying an image. |
| Service | A managed or professional service offered through a partner. |
License Models
| Model | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Free | Open-source software, no software license fee. |
| BYOL | Bring Your Own License: you supply a license from the software vendor, seeded securely at deploy. |
| Trial | Time-limited or evaluation access. |
See Marketplace for the overview and Billing and Sizing for how license models affect billing.
