Wowza Streaming Engine + Whisper Live Captions is the industry-standard live streaming server with an OpenAI-Whisper live-captioning pipeline baked in: RTMP, RTSP, SRT and WebRTC ingest, HLS/DASH packaging, recording and transcoding, plus automatic English live captions on streams published to the whisper application.
Under the hood this is the Wowza Streaming Engine 4.11.2 docker-compose appliance (engine + Engine Manager) on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with the Wowza caption-handlers module (ModuleWhisperCaptions) loaded into the engine and a bundled faster-whisper transcription sidecar (wowza/whisper_streaming) listening on :3000. The tiny.en Whisper model is baked into the image, so first boot fetches nothing and captioning works offline: streams published to the whisper application are transcribed to live captions by ModuleWhisperCaptions talking to the sidecar.
Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace it boots licensed and configured from your seeded values (BYOL). Engine Manager web UI on :8088, Engine REST on :8087, RTMP :1935. No VPU required.
