How do I deploy an appliance from the marketplace?
Phase I of the marketplace requires assistance to deploy your appliance. Select it from the catalog and click its "Deploy on NetActuate" button, which connects you with the NetActuate team to provision it. The appliance is spun up on a NetActuate virtual machine in the point of presence (PoP) you choose, with each deployment running in a single location you select on the map. No manual server racking, network configuration, or origin wiring is required.
How is the NetActuate Media Marketplace billed?
Marketplace appliances are billed at NetActuate's standard compute rates for the virtual machine size and location you select, with no separate marketplace fee. Open source appliances are free to run beyond compute costs, with zero usage-based or per-hour software charges. Bring-your-own-license (BYOL) appliances require an additional license from the software vendor, on top of compute.
What's the difference between open source and BYOL appliances?
Open source appliances are free to run and are built and validated by NetActuate, while BYOL (bring-your-own-license) appliances are commercial or partner software that require you to supply your own license or a partner-provided trial. License keys for BYOL listings are applied securely at first boot and are never stored in the listing or in logs. Most of the 100+ appliances in the marketplace are open source.

NetActuate supports the underlying infrastructure (the virtual machine, network, and edge platform), while the deployed application itself is supported by its upstream open source project or, for partner listings, by the software vendor directly. Many marketplace listings come from verified partners such as Wowza, Broadpeak, Quortex, and NETINT, who back their own software.
