Magic Mesh

Magic Mesh
Interconnect any two Cloud Routers with a single click. Magic Mesh automatically provisions a secure, encrypted overlay network between NetActuate locations—or between NetActuate and third-party cloud environments—letting you build private multi-site networks without manual tunnel configuration.

How It Works

Magic Mesh uses WireGuard to create an encrypted point-to-point tunnel between two Cloud Router instances. Simply select the source and destination routers in the NetActuate portal, click Mesh, and the tunnel is provisioned automatically no manual key exchange, firewall troubleshooting, or CLI required.

Once connected, both sites share a private network path with the full routing capabilities of the underlying Cloud Routers.

Why NetActuate Magic Mesh

One-Click Provisioning

Deploy a secure inter-site mesh in seconds. Select two Cloud Routers, click Mesh—done. No manual tunnel configuration required.

WireGuard-Backed Encryption

All mesh traffic is encrypted end-to-end using WireGuard—fast, modern, and auditable.

Cross-Cloud Connectivity

Connect NetActuate VPCs to third-party cloud environments.

Scales with Cloud Routers

All BGP, VRF, NAT, and routing capabilities of the routers remain fully functional across the mesh.

Private Overlay Network

Once meshed, your routers share a private network path keeping internal traffic off the public internet entirely.

API Orchestration

Automate mesh provisioning via the NetActuate API and build your own overlay network orchestration layer on top of Magic Mesh.

Common Use Cases

Distributed Application Tiers

Connecting distributed application tiers across multiple NetActuate PoPs with private networking

Secure Overlays

Building a secure overlay between your NetActuate VPC and AWS/GCP/Azure environments

Office Connectivity

Remote office or branch connectivity without dedicated hardware VPN appliances

Kubernetes

Multi-region Kubernetes clusters requiring private pod-to-pod network paths

Path to Production

Developer environments that need isolated, low-latency access to production systems

Pricing

Magic Mesh is included with cloud router deployments and uses bandwidth-based billing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is NetActuate Magic Mesh?

Magic Mesh is a NetActuate-managed overlay network that automatically connects multiple Cloud Routers together using encrypted tunnels and iBGP.

Do I need two Cloud Routers to use Magic Mesh?

Yes. Magic Mesh connects two Cloud Router instances. If you only have one, you'll need to deploy a second router at your desired destination location before creating a mesh.

Is the mesh traffic encrypted?

Yes. All mesh traffic is encrypted using WireGuard, a modern, high-performance VPN protocol.

Can I mesh more than two locations?

Each mesh connects two routers. For multi-location topologies, deploy multiple Cloud Routers and create mesh connections between each pair of sites. Full mesh, hub-and-spoke, and partial mesh topologies are all possible.

Does Magic Mesh work with third-party clouds?

Yes. We've successfully tested cross-cloud mesh connectivity with other providers. Contact our team to discuss your specific integration requirements.
