Ant Media Server (Community Edition)
Ant Media Server is a real-time streaming engine for ultra-low-latency (sub-second) WebRTC alongside RTMP ingest and HLS delivery, with a built-in web management panel for applications, streams, and users. This listing packages the Community Edition, which is open source under the Apache-2.0 license, as a one-click NetActuate Marketplace appliance. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
Ant Media Server ingests live video and delivers it to browsers and players with very low latency. Common uses include:
- Sub-second latency live streaming over WebRTC, publishing and playing in the browser
- RTMP ingest from OBS, vMix, and standard encoders, with HLS output for wide reach
- SRT and WebRTC ingest for contribution over lossy networks
- Managing applications, live streams, and users from the web panel
Deploying Ant Media Server in a PoP near your audience and contributors shortens the media path and keeps latency low.

Configuration Fields
When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot. Secret fields are stored write-only in your account.
| Field | Required | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admin Email | No | admin@example.com | Login username for the web management panel. The admin account is created from it at first boot |
| Admin Password | No | generated | Web panel password for the admin account. Generated for you and stored write-only in your secret list; never echoed back |
| Server Domain or IP | No | instance primary IP | Optional public domain or IP used for WebRTC ICE candidates |
Using the Appliance
After the build completes:
- Open the management panel at
http://YOUR_VM_IP:5080/and sign in. The admin account is created at first boot from the admin email you set (defaultadmin@example.com); the admin password is in your secret list (generated if you did not supply one). - Publish a stream from OBS or any RTMP encoder to
rtmp://YOUR_VM_IP/LiveAppwith a stream id of your choice, or use the WebRTC publish page athttp://YOUR_VM_IP:5080/LiveApp/to go live from the browser. - Play it back with sub-second latency over WebRTC at
http://YOUR_VM_IP:5080/LiveApp/play.html?id=STREAM_ID, or over HLS athttp://YOUR_VM_IP:5080/LiveApp/streams/STREAM_ID.m3u8.
Note: The panel on port
5080is served over plain HTTP. The admin account is seeded at first boot so the panel is never left open for the first visitor to claim. Before production use, enable TLS with your domain or restrict panel access to trusted source IPs, and point WebRTC clients at your domain for correct ICE candidates.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. This listing is the Community Edition, open source under Apache-2.0. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Where is the management panel?
On port 5080.
How do I get sub-second latency? Play over WebRTC. Ingest can be WebRTC, RTMP, or SRT; WebRTC playback gives the lowest latency.
