LiveSwitch Server

LiveSwitch Server is Frozen Mountain's self-hosted, real-time WebRTC media server, available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) appliance. It runs a selective forwarding unit (SFU) for scalable live video, voice, and data, with built-in signalling, TURN, recording, SIP interop, and HLS and WebRTC delivery, all under your own control. Deployed from the Marketplace it boots as a complete single-node stack in any NetActuate PoP. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.

What It Does

LiveSwitch Server runs real-time WebRTC media under your control. Common uses include:

  • Scalable live video, voice, and data through an SFU
  • Built-in signalling, TURN, and recording
  • SIP interop and HLS and WebRTC delivery
  • Self-hosted, single-node deployment you fully control

Deploying LiveSwitch near your users keeps real-time media latency low.

Vendor and Project

LiveSwitch Server is a commercial product from Frozen Mountain (LiveSwitch), offered here as a BYOL appliance. You supply your own LiveSwitch license key.

NetActuate supports the underlying infrastructure. Application-level support follows the partner SLA class and your LiveSwitch license agreement.

Sizing

Minimum24 GB40 GB

No VPU (hardware acceleration) is required for this appliance. The appliance brings up the LiveSwitch Gateway, the LiveSwitch Media Server (the SFU), and the Postgres and Redis backing services as a single-node stack.

Configuration Fields

When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot. Secret fields are stored write-only in your account.

FieldRequiredDefaultNotes
LiveSwitch license key (BYOL)YesnoneYour LiveSwitch Server license key. Delivered through the platform secret pipeline, never echoed back. The admin console still comes up without it and will prompt for a key
Admin console usernameNoadminUsername for the LiveSwitch admin console and REST API
Admin console passwordNogeneratedPassword for the admin console. Generated for you and stored write-only in your secret list; never echoed back

Using the Appliance

After the build completes:

  1. Open the admin console at http://YOUR_VM_IP:9090/admin and sign in with the admin username you set. A generated password is in your secret list if you did not set one.
  2. Client signalling is on port 8080.
  3. Your BYOL license was applied at first boot and never appears in any API response. If you did not seed one, the console will prompt for it on first sign-in.

FAQ

Do I need my own license? Yes. LiveSwitch Server is BYOL. Supply your license at deploy, or let the console prompt for it; NetActuate bills only the infrastructure and bandwidth.

Where is the admin console? On port 9090 at path /admin.

What runs on the appliance? A single-node stack: the LiveSwitch Gateway (signalling, admin console, and TURN), the LiveSwitch Media Server (the SFU), and the Postgres and Redis backing services.
