Nimble Streamer (Softvelum)
Nimble Streamer is Softvelum's lightweight, high-performance edge media server and live repackager, available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) appliance. It ingests RTMP, RTSP, MPEG-TS, SRT, RIST, and HLS, and delivers HLS, MPEG-DASH, MPEG-TS, Icecast, and WebRTC (WHEP), with a small memory and CPU footprint that makes it a natural per-PoP cache, origin, and repackager. Deployed from the Marketplace it boots configured from your seeded values and registers itself with your WMSPanel account. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
Nimble Streamer ingests and repackages live media at the edge. Common uses include:
- Per-PoP cache, origin, and live repackager
- Ingesting RTMP, RTSP, MPEG-TS, SRT, RIST, and HLS
- Delivering HLS, MPEG-DASH, MPEG-TS, Icecast, and WebRTC (WHEP)
- Managing routing, rules, and statistics centrally through WMSPanel
Its small footprint makes it easy to place close to sources and audiences across many PoPs.

When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot. Secret fields are stored write-only in your account.

Using the Appliance
After the build completes:
- Open the control and statistics port at
http://YOUR_VM_IP:8081/. - Manage rules, routing, and statistics for this instance from your WMSPanel account at wmspanel.com. The instance registered with WMSPanel at first boot using your seeded account.
- To re-register the instance later, run on the appliance:
sudo nimble_regutil -u ACCOUNT_EMAIL -p ACCOUNT_PASSWORD && sudo service nimble restart
FAQ
Do I need an account? Yes. Nimble Streamer 4.x registers to a WMSPanel account at first boot so it can serve. Provide your WMSPanel email and password at deploy, or sign up at wmspanel.com.
Where do I manage the server?
Rules, routing, and statistics are managed from your WMSPanel account; the on-instance control and statistics port is 8081 by default.
Which protocols are supported? Ingest over RTMP, RTSP, MPEG-TS, SRT, RIST, and HLS; delivery over HLS, MPEG-DASH, MPEG-TS, Icecast, and WebRTC (WHEP).
