MistServer
MistServer is available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a one-click, open-source appliance you can deploy into any NetActuate PoP. Full-protocol open-source streaming: RTMP, HLS, DASH, WebRTC and SRT. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
MistServer is a full-featured, open-source OTT and streaming media toolkit and server from DDVTech. It ingests and delivers live and on-demand video across every mainstream streaming protocol from a single lightweight process, with a built-in web management UI and a JSON API.
Key features
- Full-protocol ingest and delivery: RTMP, RTSP, SRT, RIST, MPEG-TS, WebRTC (WHIP/WHEP), HLS, MPEG-DASH, MP4, FLV, progressive HTTP and more
- Built-in web UI and JSON API on port 4242 for stream, protocol and output configuration
- HTTP media output on port 8080 serves HLS, DASH, WebRTC, MP4 and FLV for every configured stream
- Low-latency delivery paths (WebRTC, LL-HLS, SRT) for live sports and interactive use
- Stream pull, push and re-packaging, with triggers and process hooks for automation
- Lightweight and dependency-light: a flat set of native binaries, no runtime stack to manage
Use cases
- Live event, sports and broadcast streaming to web and mobile players
- Ingest normalization and multi-protocol re-packaging at the edge
- Low-latency interactive streaming (WebRTC) close to your audience
- On-demand and time-shifted delivery from a single node per PoP
Why run it on the NetActuate edge Deploy MistServer into NetActuate PoPs near your viewers to keep delivery paths short and quality high. A management account is generated for you at deploy time; RTMP ingest (1935) and HTTP media output (8080) are enabled by default so the appliance is useful the moment it boots.
