PhotoPrism
PhotoPrism is available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a one-click, open-source appliance you can deploy into any NetActuate PoP. Self-hosted AI photos: tagging, faces and places for your own library. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
PhotoPrism is a self-hosted AI-powered app for browsing, organizing and sharing your photo and video collection. It automatically tags and finds pictures using its own deep-learning models (objects, faces, colors and places), works with all common formats including RAW and live photos, and gives you a fast, modern web UI with maps, albums and powerful search, all running privately on your own server with no cloud dependency.
Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace it boots ready on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from the official public PhotoPrism Community Edition container. There is no license and no key: the admin account (user admin) is initialized at first boot from your generated admin password, which is stored in your secret list. Add photos to the appliance and PhotoPrism indexes and serves them over its web UI and API on port 2342.
Upstream project: PhotoPrism (https://www.photoprism.app, source at https://github.com/photoprism/photoprism), an independent open source project released under the GNU AGPLv3 by Michael Mayer and the PhotoPrism contributors. PhotoPrism is not affiliated with or endorsed by NetActuate; NetActuate packages the unmodified upstream 260601 Community Edition container image.

Configuration Fields
When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot.
| Field | Required | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| HTTP port | No | 2342 | Host port for the PhotoPrism web UI and API (container port 2342). This is the management surface. Default 2342. |
| Admin password | No | generated | Initial password for the admin account (user 'admin'). Generated for you and stored in your secret list; never echoed back. Leave blank to have one generated. Used to initialize the admin account at first boot. Stored write-only in your account secret list |
Using the Appliance
PhotoPrism is up. Open the web UI at http://YOUR_VM_IP:2342/ and sign in as user 'admin' with the generated admin password from your secret list (no license or key is required; PhotoPrism is free software, AGPLv3). Add photos to the appliance under /var/lib/photoprism/originals on the VM (or use the built-in Import and WebDAV), then run Library > Index in the UI so PhotoPrism tags and organizes them. Exposure posture: port 2342 serves the web UI and API over plain HTTP; before exposing it to the public internet, put a TLS-terminating proxy in front or restrict access to trusted source IPs.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. PhotoPrism is open source and free to run. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Which port does the appliance serve on?
The primary service is published on port 2342 by default; see the configuration fields for any adjustable ports.
Who supports it? NetActuate operates the underlying infrastructure. The application itself is community-supported open source (best-effort SLA class).
