Emby Server
Emby Server is available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a one-click, open-source appliance you can deploy into any NetActuate PoP. Your own media server: stream movies, shows, music and photos to any device. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
Emby Server is a personal media server. Point it at your media library and it organizes and streams your movies, TV shows, music and photos to any device - web browser, phone, tablet, TV or app - with automatic metadata, artwork and on-the-fly transcoding. Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace it boots ready to run; open the web UI and complete Emby's own first-run setup wizard to create the administrator account and add your libraries.
The web UI and REST API answer on port 8096. There is no baked credential: the first visit to the web UI runs Emby's setup wizard where you choose the admin account.
Emby Server is free to use, with an optional Emby Premiere subscription for premium features (Emby, https://emby.media). This appliance packages the unmodified official public emby/embyserver container image on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS; nothing is baked in beyond the upstream release, no license and no key. NetActuate is not affiliated with or endorsed by Emby.

No VPU (hardware acceleration) is required for this appliance. Choose a size at deploy based on your expected load.

When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot.

Using the Appliance
Emby Server is up. Web UI + REST API: http://YOUR_VM_IP:8096/ - open it in a browser and complete Emby's first-run setup wizard to create your administrator account and add your media libraries. There is no default password; the account you create in the wizard is the only one. Exposure posture: port 8096 serves the web UI/API over plain HTTP. Before exposing it to the internet, put a TLS-terminating proxy in front or restrict access to trusted source IPs.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. Emby Server is open source and free to run. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Where is the web interface?
On port 8096 at path /web/ by default.
Who supports it? NetActuate operates the underlying infrastructure. The application itself is community-supported open source (best-effort SLA class).
