Norsk (id3as)
Norsk by id3as is an API-first engine for live media processing and live production, available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) appliance. Build low-code live workflows with Norsk Studio (ingest, transcode, packaging, graphics and mixing, and HLS/DASH and WebRTC delivery) and drive them programmatically through the Norsk SDK. Deployed from the Marketplace it runs the official Norsk container on a dedicated VM in any NetActuate PoP, close to your contributors and your audience. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
Norsk builds and runs live media processing and production workflows. Common uses include:
- API-driven live ingest, transcode, and packaging
- Low-code live production with Norsk Studio, including graphics and mixing
- Adaptive delivery over HLS and DASH, plus WebRTC
- Ingesting contribution over RTMP and SRT
Deploying Norsk near your contributors and audience shortens the media path for live production.

This appliance benefits from a NETINT VPU for hardware-accelerated transcoding where one is available, and runs without one.
Configuration Fields
When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot. Secret fields are stored write-only in your account.

Using the Appliance
After the build completes:
- Open the supportWeb management surface (visualizer, metrics, docs) at
http://YOUR_VM_IP:6791/. - Open the publicWeb player endpoints (HLS, DASH, and WebRTC) at
http://YOUR_VM_IP:8080/. - Your BYOL license was written into the container at first boot from the license file you supplied and never appears in any API response. Norsk only serves once its license is accepted; if the endpoints do not answer, check that the license you supplied is a valid Norsk license file.
FAQ
Do I need my own license? Yes. Norsk is BYOL. Supply your Norsk license file at deploy; NetActuate bills only the infrastructure and bandwidth.
Where is the management surface?
The supportWeb surface (visualizer, metrics, docs) is on port 6791 by default; the publicWeb player endpoints are on port 8080 by default.
Why is nothing serving? Norsk serves only once its license is accepted. Confirm the license file you supplied is valid.
