EBU LIST
EBU LIST is available in the NetActuate Marketplace as a one-click, open-source appliance you can deploy into any NetActuate PoP. Self-hosted ST 2110 PCAP conformance analyzer with a web UI. It is grouped under the Media & Streaming category.
What It Does
EBU LIST (Live IP Software Toolkit) is the EBU's open-source analyzer for uncompressed IP media. Upload previously captured network packets as pcap files and quickly see whether your streams are compliant with the SMPTE ST 2110 suite, then drill down on each individual stream to understand the details, all from a server you control.
Key features
- Quickly check whether your streams comply with ST 2110
- Per-stream analysis of video timing, audio timing and ancillary data
- Drill down into each stream to understand compliance in detail
- Stream comparison, audio/video delay and PTP analysis
- Browser-based web UI with per-user logins
- Co-located MongoDB, InfluxDB and RabbitMQ bundled inside the appliance, no external database or broker to run
Use cases
- Broadcast and media-over-IP engineers validating ST 2110 uncompressed flows
- Facilities and integrators troubleshooting timing, audio and ancillary data compliance
- Labs and QoE teams that want to own their analysis data instead of a hosted tool
Why run it on the NetActuate edge Hosting EBU LIST in a PoP near your capture points shortens the path for large pcap uploads and keeps your captures, measurements and analysis history on infrastructure you control.
Getting started Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace, EBU LIST boots pre-configured from your seeded values: the full stack (listserver + MongoDB + InfluxDB + RabbitMQ) comes up on first boot and the admin user is registered headlessly, so you can sign in at /login on port 80 right away with the admin email you chose and the admin password from your secret list. Analyses persist in the co-located MongoDB and InfluxDB volumes.
Note: EBU LIST is shipped unmodified from upstream (ebutech/pi-list v2.2.3). Live packet capture is disabled by default (it needs a hardware-timestamped NIC and PTP); the appliance analyzes uploaded pcap files out of the box. For public use, put a TLS-terminating proxy on a real hostname in front of port 80.
Vendor and Project
EBU LIST is an open-source project, offered here under the Open Source listing with best-effort community support.

NetActuate supports the underlying infrastructure. Application-level support follows the listing SLA class (open-source, best effort).
Sizing
| vCPU | RAM | Disk | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 2 | 4 GB | 25 GB |
| Recommended | 4 | 8 GB | 50 GB |
No VPU (hardware acceleration) is required for this appliance. Choose a size at deploy based on your expected load.
Configuration Fields
When you deploy, you provide these fields. They are written into the appliance at first boot.
| Field | Required | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admin password | No | generated | Password for the admin account created at first boot. Generated for you and stored in your secret list if not provided; never echoed back. Any printable password of 8 to 128 characters is accepted. Stored write-only in your account secret list |
| Admin email | No | admin@example.com | Email address for the admin account, used as the login username at the web UI (default admin@example.com). |
| Instance base URL | No | none | Base URL the browser uses to reach the API and live-update socket (e.g. https://list.example.com). Leave blank to use http://<instance-ip>. |
Using the Appliance
Deploy in minutes
- Open the app. Browse to http://YOUR_VM_IP/login and sign in with email admin@example.com and the admin password from your secret list.
- Upload a capture. Add a pcap file to analyze your ST 2110 streams.
- Drill down. Inspect per-stream video timing, audio timing and ancillary data to see whether your flows are compliant.
Exposure posture: the appliance serves plain HTTP on port 80 (web UI). Live capture is off by default. For public or production use put a TLS-terminating proxy on a real hostname in front of port 80.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. EBU LIST is open source and free to run. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Where is the web interface?
On port 80 at path /login by default.
Who supports it? NetActuate operates the underlying infrastructure. The application itself is community-supported open source (best-effort SLA class).
