NMOS Control Plane

What It Does
An open, self-hosted AMWA NMOS control plane for professional IP media (SMPTE ST 2110 and AES67). Built from the official build-nmos-cpp turnkey container, the reference containerisation of sony/nmos-cpp, it bundles an IS-04 Registration and Query registry, the nmos-js Browser Client and Controller UI, and a virtual NMOS node that self-registers at first boot, so the controller shows real resources out of the box.

Deployed from the NetActuate marketplace, the control plane boots ready to use: browse the controller UI at /admin and the registry API at /x-nmos on HTTP port 8010 (change it with the mkt_web_port seed). There is no login and no credential. Point real ST 2110 / AES67 senders and receivers at the registry (IS-04) and route them with IS-05 from the controller. This is the control plane only; the media essence itself flows on your ST 2110 / AES67 network, not through this VM.

Using the Appliance
Deploy in minutes
- Open the controller. Browse to http://YOUR_VM_IP:8010/admin to open the nmos-js Browser Client / Controller UI. There is no login.
- See the registry. The IS-04 registry API is at http://YOUR_VM_IP:8010/x-nmos . The bundled virtual node has already self-registered, so the controller lists real nodes, devices, senders and receivers.
- Connect real devices. Point your ST 2110 / AES67 senders and receivers at the registry (IS-04) and make/break routes with IS-05 from the controller.
Exposure posture: the control plane serves plain HTTP with no authentication. Keep it on a trusted media/management network, or put an authenticating TLS proxy in front before exposing it publicly. This VM runs the CONTROL PLANE only; ST 2110 / AES67 media essence flows on your media network, not through this appliance.
FAQ
Is there a software license fee? No. NMOS Control Plane is open source and free to run. You pay only for the NetActuate infrastructure and bandwidth.
Where is the web interface?
On port 8010 at path /admin/ by default.
Who supports it? NetActuate operates the underlying infrastructure. The application itself is community-supported open source (best-effort SLA class).
